M reg 1600 Zetec. When it gets hot the tickover spends a minute or so at 2000 rpm before dropping to the proper 900rpm sort of level. Breezer's Triumph had a screw you could fiddle with, but is there anything I can profitably interfere with on this Frod or is everything in the electronic blobs?

Hi,

I have had a similar problem with a vauxhall astra, something fixed by cleaning the sensors, you may need new ones if this does not work. Have a look here
depends on how well the car normally runs, if its generally very good and a sudden change then its more likely to be a sensor failure. Gradual change would indicate cleaning might fix it.

Small world - I have the problem with the vaillant combi and loss of pressure.

its mainly electronic however, you could check the basics such as ensure the air filter is clean (renew it) and that all vacuum hoses are leak free (they tend to split) also ensure that all breather and vacuum hoses are not blocked.
