Hi i’ve had a new electric shower installed today. By an electrician through my landlord. He replaced the old one with a Triton T80 Z. I’ve just noticed an exposed green wire, underneath the casing. Next to the water pipe. Just worried that it’s not safe. Cheers for any help with this.

Supplementary bonding to the cold water inlet. Not dangerous.

Is that black clamp securely fixed to the pipe, or is it loose / movable?

Maybe my eyes, but the earth cable doesn't look as if it is connected to anything at all. The 'clamp' appears to be at an odd angle to the pipe and to have some sealant under it, it also as the look of a plastic clamp.

That is certainly a plastic clip and NOT an earth clamp. The earth wire is not connected and the landlord should be contacted immediately to get this rectified by a proper electrician.

Just tilted my screen for a clearer view and it looks as though the earth wire goes into a hole in that "clamp" and may be soldered to the pipe. It's a pi$$ poor job of earthing and I would get the landlord out to see the standard of work his "electrician" is carrying out on his behalf. Bear in mind, once the landlord knows what the problem is he also becomes liable if someone is hurt/killed.

You might be right, solder that looks like sealant to me under the 'clamp'. I doubt the wire has been soldered because the copper looks as if it is old and well oxidised/ tarnished. Had it been soldered the copper would be tinned.

I need a visit to SS, never saw that part in conny’s post

Thank you for all the help. Absolute shambles when it comes to our landlord. I’ll pay for my own Electrician, for piece of mind. Yep the black clip isn’t secure. Was already on the pipe from previous tenant.
