External Render Repair

I have an old Victorian house in Manchester which is rendered at the front. Over the years, a couple of cracks have appeared below one of the windows and when I bought the property the surveyor put it down to "longstanding movement" and not ongoing subsidence. However, one of the cracks is letting a small amount of water into the property and this needs to be addressed. Picture attached.

I'm not sure whether its just the render that needs to patched or whether it needs partially removing first so the brick can be reinforced. This isn't something I will tackle myself and will be getting a pro in to do it but I'd like to understand it first so I don't get taken for a ride. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Is the area within the two cracks hollow when tapped you can use a long pole to tap the area and see what happens?

if the area has De-Bonded and sounds hollow when tapped then the affected area may need to be removed and replaced, which will also need is a re-decoration, not at this time of year??

BUT!!!

The "Patch" will be visible, forever???

Once you determine if the patch has caused De-Bonding and to how large an area, it may?? be possible just to fill the cracks? such a repair will be less obtrusive than the wholesale hack off and re-render??
