Hi, the two lights and extractor fan suddenly stopped working on my Baumatic BT19.4SSHK.

However the light on the on off switch still comes on. I hear a clicking sound and then nothing.

I have attached some pics for your advice.

The lights suddenly came back on - but the fan is still not coming back on

Thank you for your comment.

The fan suddenly started working normal. And then the light came came back on momentarily and now it’s stopped . Sometimes the bulb flashes as if it’s trying to start up.

For about five mins everything was working fine.

Does anyone know what the attached pic is - does this have anything to do with the malfunction- as I noticed that when I moved this slightly earlier it kick start the extractor fan.

Thanks

It's a suppressor for the supply or a start/run capacitor for the motor, should not affect the light unless the supply to the light is linked to the output of the capacitor. It seems you have a bad connection somewhere though. Could be plug/socket could be dry joint on the board. Do you have any contact cleaner of any sort, if you have remove each wire or plug ONE AT A TIME & apply contact cleaner & refit. Might help might not, but it would be unusual for a capacitor to fail intermittently in my experience. However they are not an expensive item.

Thanks for your advice - it’s really weird, everything is running like normal now- although I see the light intermittently flashing.

I’ll monitor for a few more days.

The light I see flash- like it’s warming up and then suddenly it’ll come on like normal - it’s as if it’s not getting enough electricity to get it to work .

It was slow at first
But now fan is fully functioning like previous.

Light still temperamental.

Could be just restricted by hard grease, try turning the impeller by hand after it has not been used for a while, it should spin freely. As Justin says it could also be a dodgy switch but it looks like you have separate switches for fan & light so less likely to be both gone. The mention you make of a clicking noise in your first post is also a bit confusing but it could be a relay on the pcb failing which again is a possible cause of both problems. Other than a build up of grease until it becomes a permanent fault it will be difficult to identify the problem for certain & personally I would not start throwing parts at it.

Thanks all for your comments.

Seems the wires for the extractor and the lights are all linked together and not separate .

Refer to first pic.

The clicking noise seems to be linked to the start/ run capacitor
