Hi

I've bought a Smiths HL1000 fan assisted radiator to fit into the kitchen. The combi boiler is also in the kitchen and the 22mm flow and return pipes are right there to tee off.
The radiator has 15mm stub pipes in & out. It's like a plinth heater but goes up high on the wall.

There's two things I'm not sure about with the installation....

The manual says to use isolation valves on the connections, but a lot of advice seems to be that isolation ball valves on a central heating are likely to leak? Should I just buy top brand?

The manual says you need to re-balance the radiators also on the system after installation but the diagram doesn't show any kind of valve or lockshield. Do these kind of things have enough flow restriction not to need anything other than isolators? Could you balance on the ball valve or is that likely to fail or do I need to be installing some kind of flow restrictor?
