Hi all

We need to replace a rotted fence post in the garden and I was just wondering if I could get some advice on the length of post to get.

I found that fence posts seem to come in two sizes - 270cm and 300cm.

The existing post is 180cm in length above ground - so I'm guessing the 270cm one would be the one to get.

Would there be any reason to get the 300cm post? The 270cm post would mean 90cm underground which sounds like enough, but I wasn't 100% sure.

Yes the 270 would be suitable.
Rough rule of thumb is 1/3 below ground with 2/3 above.

Are the existing posts set in concrete?

If so and you get the post stubs pulled out, sink the new posts in to the existing concrete. I did fifteen that way last year.
