Filling in large holes in lawn

Hi all,

Got some large holes where old bushes/tree's used to be and wanted to know the best way to fill these before reseeding the area. I've read online about using sand but there was no mention as to which sand.

It really does not matter what sand. You can even use earth that is dry and has been sieved to be fairly fine. the grass will grow up through whatever you throw down really. just try and get the surface fairly flat.
