Hi All,
We moved into our home a few months ago and part of the garage was converted into a laundry area. There is a fire door from the hallway into the laundry. We are now converting the balance of the garage into a study, with a raised floor. In the laundry area we are keeping the floor at the existing lower level simply because it's a laundry, incase of possible water escaping from the machine. We are putting a doorway to the outside so this room can be used as a bootroom too. So my question is does the door into the new study need to have a fire door? I've attached photos to help explain. 1st photo taken from existing fire door looking into the garage conversion on left. 2nd photo is to the right where the laundry is (with a boiler cupboard on the far right). 3rd photo is where the new external door will be fitted as soon as it arrives.
Advice would be appreciated.
Regards Lesley

If it's not a garage any more then there is less risk of a fire starting there. So I would have thought it would be treated the same as other ground floor rooms in the house and not need a fire door.
