Hi. I'm putting a new ceiling light in and wanted some advice.

I've got a single core with 3 wires. Red, Black and a bare copper earth. I've purchased some sleeving to cover the earth wire after reading somewhere that I should

The lighting rose has an earth wire running from the core

My questions -

1 - does the earth wire in the rose attach to the ceiling fixture? There is a screw so I assume it's just screwed underneath?

2 - the screw to attach the earth on the terminal block was broken so I've attached the earth to a separate terminal block (see pics) - is that okay?

3 - I've noticed when I turned off the ceiling lights circuit on the trip board, it's also turned off my cooker. Should they both be attached to the same circuit? Is it something I should get an electrician in for?

I've attached pics

The job is mostly done, just waiting on some reassurance before i finish. It's the first time I've done a ceiling light.

Many thanks!

Single cable with three cores or wires.

1 - does the earth wire in the rose attach to the ceiling fixture? There is a screw so I assume it's just screwed underneath?
No, no need. It will be attached when you screw on the rose (not that you will then be able to touch it).

2 - the screw to attach the earth on the terminal block was broken so I've attached the earth to a separate terminal block (see pics) - is that okay?
Yes.
Or you could have put both wires in the same end with the good screw.

3 - I've noticed when I turned off the ceiling lights circuit on the trip board, it's also turned off my cooker. Should they both be attached to the same circuit? Is it something I should get an electrician in for?
They wouldn't normally be on the same circuit. Are you sure?
