We renovated our kitchen/dining room and had new solid bamboo floors installed floating over a cork underlay. The builder asked me if we wanted the floors to extend under the cabinets, and stupidly I said yes. My thinking was that if it didn't the cabinets around the walls would be at a different height to those ones making up the central island, which would have to be on top of the flooring. So now we have the whole kitchen (and island) resting on top of the floating floor, and it's pinning the floor down so it can't move/expand/contract correctly. This causes the floor to lift in the centre of the room when sunlight streams in through the new bi-fold doors (south facing) and heats the floor up. I'm pretty certain it's the heat rather than humidity as it lifts with sunlight then drops back down when it gets cooler.
Is there a relatively simple fix which won't involve dismantling the kitchen?
