Fixing holes/gaps in external walls.

So I have just moved into an older house (1970’s). There are 1 or 2 mouse traps along with a some bait I have found (in the attic and hot press).

There are a few different holes/gaps in the external walls I can see, where cables and a tumbler drier vent are located. I’d like to get these sealed up. You can see someone has already used some silicone to fill in a hole.

Is there something else I should/could use in the holes? Or is silicone the thing to use? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Find the correct mortar. Mix and test to get correct colour.
Rake out joints.
Duck tape bricks to keep clean
Fill.
When mortar is set pull tap.

Cable is better coming down then from the side and bending up. Stops the water if that makes sense. They call it a cable drip loop..
When dry a little clear silicone around cable entry points maybe a good idea? Depends
