Fixing trellis to fence

Hello All
Trying to stabilise this trellis to the fence. What kind of nails should I use so it doesn’t fall off. With the current setup it falls off whenever a fox climbs it!
Also, will I be able to drill through the wooden fence or it can break? Thanks.

No need to drill - use a bradawl to mark out then gently tap Easyfix galvanised staples in to place.

Hammer some staples in, to just below the depth of the wood, or tie it to the lath with twine.
