Hi,
I guess this isn't normal?
Karndean fitted last week in new extension and into existing concrete kitchen floor. Floor makeup is concrete slab, small depth of screed to level, celotex, chipboard floor, latex, sanded high points, then karndean.

Every single row is visible and each row dips to the next one towards the door. I put a 2m level in the middle and I get 1cm per metre at the worst points.

Presumably sorting this out isn't simple. Haven't paid yet...

Ah well, down to him then.
Presumably the fix isn’t something simple like relaying the Karndean? This looks like quite a fundamental issue to me …

Everything lifted down to the celotx and relevelled and relayed? One issue we’ll have is the door level.

I don’t know what to suggest really. If I had diy’d it I might live with it. It’s the paying 000s for it that I can’t accept.

What a mess. Needs ripping up and throwing in the site.
What should of happened is 6mm sp101 / FG1 plywood to the chipboard areas. Then latex the screed areas to match the height of the plywood. Then a 5mm coat over the whole area with a fibre smoothing compound like Mapei renovation

No chance of rescuing any of it then?

Not even the tiles?

Would you pay for any of it to be redone? I’m half thinking of telling them to leave it there, but paying half or something.

Don’t pay anything. It’s Not been done correct.
who did the prep & who laid the floor?
what adhesive was used ?

Builder did it all above the slab. When I say builder did it, I mean literally did it himself. No separate flooring guy.

From a picture I took of the glue tub it is Ball Styccobond F46 pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive.

What do you think is a fair resolution? Don’t pay a penny until the whole thing is correct?

That’ll mean lifting the whole thing, changing insulation depth, new chipboard floor , and new ply, right? He’s going to love that.

without seeing the job it could be rip up just the Karndean Then screed floor again.
Its not a builders job. Get it touch with BSB flooring. my mate Ben will sort it out.

I wouldn’t pay mate as that floor is designed to last 30 years. You don’t want to be looking at that for years to come like that.

The other annoyance you will have based on your level disparities is that anything you put on the floor such as a dining room chair will potentially wobble.

Aside from aesthetics, I wouldn’t be inclined to accept the job even at discount as the above will be really annoying if you are using the area for seating etc.
