After many years (well over 20 I think) of summer use, our trusty floor-standing bedroom fan has decided to seize up. I'd rather repair than replace if possible.
Having stripped it down, it looks like the issue is with this bit at the back; it seems to be some kind of bearing that allows the fan shaft to pivot as well as spin. Is it actually a generic replaceable part, or am I on a fool's errand here?
EDIT - the shaft *was* seized, but since I pressed it out of that maybe-bearing and then reinserted it, it's now spinning again. Maybe it just needs lubing and putting back together, or is that just kicking the can and I need to replace either the bearing or the whole fan?
