New to the forum, we have a cottage in Norfolk which had a wood burner in the kitchen, the flue runs upwards through a studwork and plaster board cupboard in the bedroom above. It then goes through a sloped ceiling and out of the tiled roof. Happy to leave the chimney part in the roof but want to make more space for a bed in this box room. I’ve removed everything but the piece of twin thickness flue hanging out of the sloped ceiling. What’s the best way to cut this in situ before I plasterboard and skim the ceiling over? Angle grinder? Fire prevention if doing this? Any pointers gratefully received in advance!

Got a set of those, I’ll give that a go before I set light to the place with the grinder!

The sections will unscrew with a quarter turn once any locking bands are removed...
There will be a support plate or bracket above the ceiling.

I think this section goes straight out through the roof and the support plate, I’ll see what’s there when I remove the plasterboard. Thanks for the heads up!
