Hello,
Helping someone fettle their Ford KA mk1 which, you will be surprised to hear, has not rusted to dust.
The last few years it has been a bit unloved and it may not have had a proper service since 2021/2022. Prior to that it was serviced every year by ford going back to new.
Bodywork and under seem to be fine. The only issue it seems to have is that is it a bit hesitant to start.
It takes about three attempts each time, but once it fires, after a tiny bit of (am I going to stall hesitancy) it is fine.
It's the age of a car that a garage service is probably covering most of the value of the car, so I thought it the perfect opportunity to try my hand at a bit of car repair/service diy.
It seems the perfect car to practice on.
So, I was just looking for a bit of diagnosis help. Should I start with a full service? Filters, plugs & oil?
The oil actually still looks golden, so would it still be worth swapping it for new if it has been sat for a year or two?
What could cause the starting hesitancy? The battery might be a bit weak, but it's not the turn over that sounds like it's the issue, it's seems like it's just not getting fuel initially? So....would changing the fuel filter and a bit of redex or millers be advisable?
Thoughts appreciated!
