format disc?

Hi all,

I know very little about computers etc as will soon become apparent!.

I've got some pictures on a disc , nothing that important, just holiday pictures .I haven't looked at them for a long while but when i've put the disc in my laptop its saying disc is 60% full but wont let me view , saying disc needs formatting?

Is there any hope to see these pictures again or are they gone?!

is it a cd or dvd? could be that you didn't finalise it when you put the images on it originally.

try some of the utils mentioned on this link to see if they will read it

did you record it on your laptop, or on a different machine? It is more likely to work on the original. Don't format it as this will destroy everything.

It is a good idea to keep multiple backuop copies of important photos, they are sorely missed if lost or damaged.

Some of the really old CDs have an issue where the ink in them runs, if this is the case then unfortunately it is bin fodder, you can usually tell just by looking at the underside of the disk.
