I mentioned on another section that the central heating pump didn't appear to work; so i've smacked it with a mallet, taken off the bleed thingy, twiddled with my little screw-driver, but still no luck.
I though today I would take my Stilson and turn off the little valve thingy above the pump as that too would not react to encouragement with a screw-driver. As soon as I tried to turn it, water started trickling from around it's spindle, now the thing wouldn't budge either way. So I raced around for a bucket and once in place looked for other valves and stop-cocks, with no real luck. Over the last twelve hours I have cut a length of hose pipe and connected this to a cut down watering can placed beneath the pump to trickle into the bath - until I figure out what to do next. Sadly, I hadn't checked the hose pipe and returned to the house from work to check on things to find the spiders etc. were blocking the flow and the water was dripping nicely all around the hot water tank. I have now managed, I think, to re-direct the flow and reduce the amount of water dripping into the floor. Oh little things!
