Garage on boundary???

I have contacted the council on this, but no response yet. Was wondering if anyone had any experience of this?

My garage is on my boundary, and the door is 3m back from my boundary. I'd like to extend it to the boundary and put in a roller door.

My builder mentioned that i can't go to the boundary, but must leave 1m. Is this true?

I will need planning as the height will exceed the limit for permitted development.

Just interested if anyone has heard of this?

No reason why you can't build up to a boundary
