I have a gate and support that needs replacing.
There needs to at least 15-20cm gap from the wall to the hinge as the gate sits in front of a drainpipe.
I've thought about attaching a 10cm post to the wall and then another post on to that but unsure whether that would be the best and more secure way.
Any suggestions?

Yes, you could do that. Or hinge it the other way. What is the passage width, from wall to wall?

Pics and plan will help

Front and back pictures attached (apologies for the blocked view at the back). The distance from the house to the garage post is 135cm.
