GB News

They can't claim asylum until they cross the border and the majority of them are found to be genuinely eligible for asylum.

Imagine someone who does deserve asylum, should they be refused for taking a boat?
Yes, they should be refused asylum. Claim asylum in one of the many safe countries they paid to travel through to get to the channel. Don’t reward people who fund criminal gangs.

In other news, Mark Steyn might be leaving GB News. Apparently his bio has been scrubbed of any mention of a job there. The current theory is that GBNews think he's too toxic thanks to some of the Ofcom complaints.
That would be good. i don’t like his style of presenting, his extreme views and the repetitive nature of him airing them day after day.

Let's imagine that the woke liberals targeted you for your views and you had to flee the country to avoid being pelted to death with avocados.

They've blocked you from flying as it's too carbon intensive. So your only option is to go via boat to France (maybe Holland).

But you have family in Australia who would welcome you in and you'd be eligible for their asylum policy, although not as an economic migrant.

Should you be seeking asylum in France? Or stopping over and continuing your journey to seek asylum in Australia?

I liked the pelted to death with avocados analogy :)

unfortunately, I don’t accept that many, if any, of the channel crossers are genuine asylum seekers. They’re economic migrants and/or criminals that our asylum system is to broken to identify and return.

Why not? Most of them get approved for asylum.

If our government could be less welcoming for asylum seekers within the law do you honestly think they would not already be doing it?

Al Jazeera is pretty straight on most things, afaik.
If there's a moslem slant it's obvious.

GB news isn't MSM, it's nowhere near.

I thought it was Sky News I'd prodded for, then realised it wasn't a news channel at all.

the trick is to watch a bit of BBC then a bit of GB- the truth will lie somewhere between these political extremes. may be a bit towards the beeb, 65% BBC 35% GB would probably be a good balance.

I quite like aljazeera at the moment, esp that Iranian presenter, maryam, shes gorgeous - anything she says is going to be spot on
AlJ. is one of my go-to news sources: clear-cut presentation of attributable sources. It maintains a credible balance without becoming as preachy as CNN or the BBC, on which it based the format of its content. Excellent documentaries and magazine shows. And yes, Maryam Nemazee is hot.

Yes, they could. They could refuse to accept asylum applications from Albanians for example.

No they can't. Not legally.

You haven't answered either of my recent questions. Would you become French or do you think its fair to move before seeking asylum?

Yes they can. Many European countries decline asylum claims from Albania on the basis that it is a safe country.

I haven't answered your question because i don't accept the premise that the majority of people crossing the channel by boat are genuine asylum seekers. They're claiming asylum because they know how poor we are at rejecting bogus asylum seekers.

You can argue about "majority" separately, but it is irrelevant to your refusal to address the question.

They have different laws to us. After all they are different countries.

I asked you to imagine a scenario. You want to ban EVERY asylum seeker who doesn't fly in. Even those that might be fleeing a real threat to life. If it happened to you, should you be forced to only seek sanctuary in France?

Also, why are you obsessing about less than 10% of the asylum seekers?
