Glow Worm Flexicom 24hx Boiler F5 & F22 Faults

Hi All,

I have a Flexicom 24hx Boiler about 6 years old, Been fine till about 2 months ago,
then one morning it didn't come on, F22 Code. I re-set it and all was fine.

Then 2 days later the same, and then F5 then off again, this went on for about four or 5 days.

I called a Boiler company and a young man came couldn't find anything wrong and
said it need a powerflush. Strangely he didn't try and sell us anything else, I was out while
he was here, so a couple of days later I had the system Power Flushed, they said it would cure all the problems,.. it was fine when they left, then the next day F22, F22, F22.

So looking at various forms they recommended, Checking all the rads, bleeding etc.
which worked for about 5 weeks. But now I'm back again F5 or F22.

Someone said it could be the pump or position of the pump. It about 30ft from the boiler
in the loft, if quite a large central heating system 12 Rads, as the house was extended over time and the rads have been added.

So anyone have any ideas ? I'm loathed to get another engineer in as I've already spent
over £600.00 and I no further forward than when I started.

Hi Gary ...

I have a Glowworm Flexicom 30hx. All was working fine. I drained the system to put an automatic air vent valves on two radiators and filled up the system. All the radiators and pump have been bleed and there does not appear to be any air in the system. Turned on the heating to test and lo and behold F22 error. After re-setting the boiler, it started for about two minutes then F5 error with swishing noise.

Tried this for a few days but keep getting F22 followed by the F5 error. Did you manage to sort out your situation? If so, any tips where to go next?

Thanks for your reply. The pump has not been touched except to bleed air. Strange, however will get it seen to just in case.
 
Given the F5 code it sounds alot like it will be the pump (F5 is a proper over heat as if circulation had pretty much stopped all together)

Also the boiler must have an auto bypass fitted on the system as well, worth checking if thats there(wont likley be the cause of the issue but worth checking and correcting while your at it)
 
Thank you ScottishGasMan and lightning. It was a stuck pump.

After getting a few instructions from a plumber I took off the bleed screw and turned the rotor with a flat screwdriver a few times both ways. Then I put the screw back on. Turned on the heating ... again F22 error. Just opened up the bleed screw again slightly and the trapped air got released. Turned on heating again and all seems to be fine so far.

Ye so far it will probably be back ;)
 
download the installation instructions for the pump you have, you wouldnt believe how many are installed wrong and trap air constantly
