I am using gmail as a server to Apple Mail on my iMac running Lion OS.
I am getting an caution icon next to my Inbox mailbox label.
Clicking on this icon gives a drop down window saying:-

There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “Gmail” or try again.

The server returned the error: Mail was unable to log in to the IMAP server “imap.gmail.com” using “Password” authentication. Verify that your account settings are correct.

The server returned the error: Too many simultaneous connections. (Failure)

I have of course checked my preferences and all seems to be OK.
Any ideas anyone.

Is there an option to disable the "Send & Receive All" schedule? In outlook this is a problem that can be resolved this way. I am sure there must be an equivalent for IMAP?

Thanks for your help madder.
I thought I had resolved my issue which was related to the installation of a New Mobile WiFi Dongle, it may be related to this but I can't find a setting which would account for it.
The warning icon occasionally disappears only to reappear later. Apple and ny ISP are decidedly unhelpful as is always the case when you get problems such as this. One always blames the other, and a nugget like me is left holding the baby.
