I was really into my Golf GTI's and built my latest one a garage. Turned out I liked building the garage just as much as the car and its sat in there for 3 years gathering dust.

It's a last of the line Mk2 Golf with a 2008 Golf R32 engine in it. I took the shell back to bare metal before spending any money on it and it was really solid.

Since then we have bought another house so this will need another garage building for it!!!

No, unfortunately not, it's front wheel drive. The engine was originally from a 4 wheel drive but in my car it's got a VR6 gearbox.

I'm still trying to get permission from my missus to build a bigger garage at the new place.

Refresh my memory?
I was familiar with the original VR6 2.8 and it's timing chain issues.....is this one the 3.2 with the limited slip diff gearbox?
One hell of a motor, either way (y)
John :)

It's the 3.2, very similar in size to the 2.8 but has 24valves instead of 12. I'm not sure about the LSD but the box that came attached was HUGE, I sold it on e-bay to a guy in Germany. It had the dual mad flywheel which I also swapped for a normal one.

I've not actually driven the thing yet although it does start and run. I guess it's another type of DIY, I got all the advice on building it and getting it running from a place called Club GTI. It similar to this site really, plenty of knowledgable people, plenty or carachters and a couple of idiots ;)

I think a limited slip would be essential to help tame a beast like that......its usually easy enough to find out but I'm not sure if the method is totally fool proof. Anyway, with the car jacked up, spin one of the front wheels. On a normal diff the opposite wheel spins in the opposite direction, but with a limited slip the opposite wheel spins in the same direction.
Give us a pic when its done!
John :)

Will do, but don't hold your breath ;)

I've got another box off a Bora V5 which is apparently more suited to the engine. I did think of having that built up with a LSD at some point.

I had a 1991 Mk 2 16v, loved that car and was sorry to see it go, would have another and fancied the 1.8 Turbo route myself but garage space wont allow.
Nearly bought an R32 a few years back.
