Hi, 4 days after applying stopgap 300 slc to floor long hairline cracks appeared. Is this usual. Mix was correct and cracks are not related to trowling or batches.

Levels/ depth vary from 3 mm to 10 mm

Any ideas or is this usual.

Thanks

Ours cracked but it’s been tiled over for 18months now with no problems.

All Fball :131 primer over f77 dpm over 1200. Top was stopgap300

Did you put the P131 over the Dpm neat?
They do a grit primer now called P141 which is better.

Also you shouldn't put 300 over 1200 as it is a much lower compression strength. That's what f ball say anyway.
I did it on a few jobs years back with no issues though.

The reason for the cracks I'd say is you have put it on to thick. Over a Dpm you can't put it on over 6mm. The stress of putting it on causes hairline cracks. Also sunlight as it's drying can cause some.

The fix -

If solid and bonded then sand down the cracks and use micro coat over them. Had same issues and did that with no problems after.

Yes neat 131. Fball technical didn't say anything about 300 over 1200 or 6mm limitation and neither does any of their data sheets but I know real life may differ...
I had thought about sun but some areas affected never see sun.
As long as it is still bonded then I should be ok?
Can't feel any variation of heigh so there is nothing to sand in this case.
Just surprised it happened as I went by the book
Thanks for replies. Have a good weekend.
