I'm just a homeowner here (in Amsterdam)... I have 4 halogen spotlamps in the kitchen, fitted by previous owners electrician. They are on an electronic dimmer. Fitted approx 7yrs ago I think.
So it goes:
transformer > small junction box > 4 x 35w halogen spotlamps
The lamps were wavering a bit for a few weeks, I thought something to do with electricity getting to house due to bad weather... then eventually they stopped working.
Today, I got round to checking the transformer and replacing, and that when I discovered it had burnt out - at the cable which goes ot the small junction, that then feeds the lamps.
I'm not an electrician; but I was wondering if anyone could identify what might have happened here? (pic is below). Has the cable somehow shorted?

- 4 x 35w
- 1 x transformer (max 150w)
- 1 x a small little junction box that goes to all the halogens.
