Has my house foundation sank? Pics included

Hello everyone,

Im currently in the process of purchasing my first home..
So i had the Homebuyers survey carried out today and it has picked up that the front right hand side corner of the house has maybe sank?

I have attached photos as they speak 1000 words... Is it bad? Should i pull out of the sale? Will it cause future problems? The house is 1930's if that helps.

The part effected is below the side veranda/extension

Do you mean the founds on the little extension have moved?

Probably not a big deal. It prob hasnt been built properly, maybe hardly any footing on made up ground, but that doesnt mean the house has an issue.

Ask your surveyor for advice, that's what you have paid him for

I'm with Notch. The way that house is perched up on that bank indicates that the foundations for the extension would likely need to be pretty deep in order to hit solid ground, as is often the case where homes are built upon banks or hillsides.

Most likely inadequate depth footings beneath the veranda.

We had to go down nearly 6 feet on our current job - a location very similar to your own.

I would also think inadequate footings.
And let's remind each other, anyway 3/4 of the UK soil is cohesive (not going to use the S word here)

I think im going to get a structual engineer to have a look at it first hand. Hopefully its nothing major, im also worried that any remedial work may affect future insurance policies.. hmm

two ways to look at this
at present you have no known subsidence so nothing to declare
they discover subsidy in a structural survey you now have a pre existing issue you have to declare when applying for insurance cover
