Does anyone know of these boxes that have HDMI passthrough (as well).
Do they exist at all ?

I'm looking for a box to extract the audio streams (actually two at the same time, can be any type) whilst keeping use of the HDMI ARC signal that is currently being used to feed a Sony soundbar system (which has no usable other outputs).

I've no real hifi shops around here (are there any left), the best I've done so far is to see a lot on the 'bay but not spotted anything quite like I need.

Any thoughts appreciated.

i.e.
HDMI (ARC) from TV ---> Magic Box of tricks ---> HDMI output (with arc)
........................................... ---> Audio stream e.g. SPDIF or Coax or RCA
........................................... ---> Audio stream e.g. SPDIF or Coax or RCA
 
Pretty sure that the black magic converter range do.
They aren't really aimed at domestic customers
 
This will do what you need: Lindy audio de-embeddder with ARC support, Ebay number 304041149975, so the tech does exist.

Currently, your HDMI ARC connection is just being used as an audio feed from the TV to the sound bar. It's not handling picture, so there's no complications with various HDCP standards for DolbyVision etc. The product in the Ebay link looks very much like a Lindy 38097. This specific model is featured in the Lindy blog linked below.

No. If you look at the one you linked...

then clearly they look different.

If you meant "the same" as in doing the same job, then again the answer is no. I've added some text to the images above, but in essence the one you linked just taps off audio from a HDMI signal passing through. I've given the example of a BD player, but it could be any HDMI-equipped device that lacks any alternative audio output; for example a 1080p streamer such as a Fire TV stick. What the device lacks is the ability to pick up the ARC feed from the connected TV.

The device I linked has the pass-thru tap feature but for higher-resolution signals (4K UHD and 1080p). It also reads the ARC audio from the connected display. This means that audio from the TV tuner and the in-built apps and any sources connected to the TV's HDMI inputs can be tapped off via ARC and then fed to a sound system of some description using the device's Optical or analogue stereo outs.
 
If they do sell directly you'll pay more than the prices in the Ebay links.

Anything new will (I hope) cater for that HDMI and HDCP standards in wider use today, so I suspect you'll tip up 80 squids plus.
 
Update: A good try but I'm almost back to square one.

Lindy agreed this is what I need (nothing else at present does arc passthrough) but they stopped the 38097 a while back, they checked their stock & main outlets - none to be had. Other online retailers have odd listings, but out of stock (permanently I suspect). Just now no '097s available online that I can see.
Lindy did kindly suggest other manufactures 'might' do one but reading between the lines on specifications (not easy) it looks doubtful even the 'full passthrough' ones are not really full (arc).

So I'm still on the lookout but I need to be confident it'll do what I need before taking a punt.
 
Does it really matter that the 38097 - you know, the product that solves your problem, and perfectly - is available to purchase right now, four of them in fact, as a pre-owned unit?

If I was in your shoes I'd get one of these bought before they too disappear. The alternatives for new products are both rare and significantly more expensive.

However, should there be the possibility you can forego HDMI pass-through then have a look at Ebay item 224296094929 for £20 shipped direct from Hong Kong.
