Hi All,
Wondering if anyone can give me some guidance on why the above boiler is blowing out the heating flowpipe filter assembly? This has happened 4 times now & keeps flooding the boiler... Every time I replace the filter body it seems to work fine for a couple of months before letting go again. It breaks the little clips holding the filter housing in the body... Thanks John

Filling loop left open? Issue with rising/constant topping up pressure?

Thanks for the reply, the filling loop is always closed. I do have a small leak somewhere & do have to top up on occasion but it has been like that since install 4/5 years ago. The issue with the filter assembly has only been in the past year. Do you know what pressure the boiler should run at in normal operation? cheers

Do you mean the return filter valve below the pump on the return, or the cold water inlet filter ?

thank you, when your heating is cold what is the pressure gauge reading, then once it has been on for an hour what does it then read, the name of that filter is heating flow filter, the connections on them can easily be wrongly connected

This is the one i was looking at appears to be an internal one.

Guys, I have found a 2nd mention of this item in the manual, not sure if this sheds further light on the issue.

To be honest I have not checked the pressures, as this seems to happen randomly I cannot check the pressure prior to it going. I set the cold pressure to 1.2bar & it can run between 2 - 2.5 bar when hot. The strange thing is it can run for months before this housing goes. Im not there at the moment so had a mate change it this time... it went within minutes after it was replaced.

It is not the fitting that is going , it is not being replaced correctly, and you system pressure needs attention too, your expansion vessel needs attention

Not sure how the fitting can be replaced in the wrong way? It only goes in one way round with the filter facing down towards the bottom of the boiler. The small clips where the filter goes into the housing are breaking if you look at the second drawing you will see the small clips that are lined up & turned to the right to clip in. These small clips are the only thing that breaks.
Can you tell me what the pressures should be for the system?

the fitting must be pushed fully home before the clip is inserted, it is very very easy to get it wrong, if it is failing after a few minutes it is not fitted correctly

Ok, yes I can understand that, however if the fitting was not fully home it would leak from the side that was not pushed properly home, this is not happening. What happens is that it blows the filter cap off breaking one of the small clips that hold the cover in place. It must be overpressure somehow but what I don't know is how the overpressure is being caused?

I have highlighted the small parts that are breaking, this seems to happen some time after the new part has been fitted (i.e. months). Appreciate I may have misled with the earlier comment saying it had failed immediately... this may have been due to my mate not fitting it correctly.

As I say this new part once fitted would last for a couple of months before failing, I do check the pressure occasionally but never managed to see it prior to the cap failing so not sure how high the pressure is at point of failure.
