Hi All,
I have a Drayton RF3 (British Gas PT5) thermostat that I would like to replace with a Hive.
The boiler is a Vaillant ecoTECplus 415.

There is no hot water control, so it is all done via the heating settings.
Please help !! I'm totally lost on this one !!

I fitted the Hive in my previous home, but that was straight forward replacing the existing unit. This is not the same.

Well I am afraid you are mistaken, with your boiler you must have a hot water cylinder, an ecotec 415 is not a combi boiler

What do you mean by no hot water control, and it’s all done by heating settings?

Sorry for the confusion, in my current setup, I have the Drayton RF3 (British Gas PT5) thermostat in the hallway, where I can set the heating schedule.
The boiler is a Vaillant ecoTECplus 415 located in the util room and a hot water tank/cylinder on the landing upstairs.

At my previous home, the boiler had a control unit next to it, this one only has the white box as in the image.

I would like to use the hive, to control my hot water and heating, or just heating, as it seems the ecoTECplus heats the water then the heating is on.
I hope that helps.

The dual channel hive controls the zone control on the heating system, either a 3 port or 2 x 2 port valves these in turn control when the boiler comes on

Standard when changing a thermostat is one look at the boiler instructions and two look at the old thermostat instructions and it seems the boiler has three methods to control it, 230 volt, 24 volt and ebus, and the original thermostat has volt free contacts so either 230 or 24 volt could be used.

However you say it also does domestic hot water, and I will admit I can't see from diagram how it does the domestic hot water, however looking at the thermostat instructions it does seem as if the single channel Hive will replace it. But since you want hot water control you need to work out how it does it?

I think if I had the option of fitting some third party control or the one dedicated for the boiler I would be looking at the dedicated one first.

I think if you had the slightest clue what you were talking about then you would decist from posting in something you know absolutely nothing about
