Hi all I've got a Hive 2nd Gen thermostat and I'm looking for a guide on how to wire it in. I currently have a simple wired timer, 2nd picture below. This doesnt have the live connections the hive system requires.

So I'm planning on taking a feed from the spur for the live and neutral connections on the hive.

Where do the bk1 and bk2 feeds connect to on the hive? 1 and 2 or 1 and 3

Thanks for any advice!

1&3. Also I use 5 core cable and take everything from the boiler terminal block. Much neater.

Nice one, thanks for that. So take the live and neutral feeds from the block inside the boiler?

Would make it neater, I'm all for that :)

Yes. Receiver at the side of the boiler. Short length of 5 core, job done.

Hi hope someone can help, have followed these instructions on my Ecoblue and the boiler will not fire

L from boiler block to Live
N from boiler block to N
230v live out from boiler to common on hive
switch to terminal 3 on hive

The hive reciever is lit and recieving power
The boiler fire button works, turns green but the boiler will not fire. Hot water works on demand as it should

Have tried with the original baxi RF reciver fitted and removed, same issue

Pulling my hair out here

Any help greatly appreciated

you should have terminals 1&2 from the boiler wired to terminals 1&3 on the hive, if this is correct it sounds as if you havent properly diconnected an existing control and linked it out

yes, this sounds what im looking for..... been poking around the wires to see where they go, the terminal 1 and 2 cables go back to where the existing receiver was located, any idea how i link them out?

I have 5 connectors on the old receiver plug

1 is neutral (2 blue cables) 1 of which goes to N terminal on the block
2 is live (2 brown) 1 of which goes to L terminal on the block
3 is black goes to terminal 2 on the block
4 is black to PCB
5 is unused

So logically if I short 3 and 4 it will link out the old timer??

Glad to have been of help, for future reference though ignore the colors in heating wiring, it does not mean that if a wire is blue then it is a neutral and if brown it is a live etc it all depends on who wired it up

Please could someone help me ...

I have only 3 wires coming out of my thermostat... reading 240 volts from the live

I've tried connecting a few ways and still not working ...

I will post an image below of old thermostat

site rules prohibit Hi-jacking old posts for good reason, the advice you require is different so if you want the correct answer you will have to start your own post and say which boiler you have and what you are trying to connect
