I just went into a commercial kitchen the other day to do some work on the flourescent lights and I saw some wiring thechniques I am unsure about. The kitchen was first built in 1980.

The heating equipment is under a canopy hood in the center of the room.
What is strange is how the equipment has been wired. All the equipment has the wiring coming out of the side of the equipment running to and across the floor. It appears to be in some kind of plastic conduit that is a grayish color, and it appears to be flexible.

Is this a normal method of connection. Do you believe this is the original wiring or has it been added later? Do you think this could be a temporary set-up?

My impresion was that the equipment had been replaced or changed and this was the only way of re-routing the wiring without tearing out the concrete floor and tiling?
