Well...
I very stupidly put washing up liquid into my Hotpoint Futura dishwasher when I ran out of tablets. After hearing a beeping from the kitchen I discovered a small amount of water leaking out of the front of the machine and the inside was a soapy mess.
It hasn't worked since and I can't seem to find the solution. I've cleaned out all of the foam and tilted it in all directions to try and remove any excess water.
After removing the bottom panel I can see that the float is dry and working correctly, and the base is completely dry.
Despite this, when starting the cycle the pre-drain begins as normal but no water enters the machine. At the point at which water should enter the machine beeps and the Washing light flashes. After this it stops beeping and the Drying and End lights turn on. From this point the machine loops a constant drying cycle.
I can't afford a new one or a fix at the moment. Does anyone have any ideas what I could try next to get it working again?

problem with washing up liquid is that it foams out of control if it's put in a washing machine, I know I have done it but I was lucky. If wet soapy bubbles have got on to the control panel it could well have blown something. If that is the case then there isn't anything you can do other than get it repaired or buy a new one. You could try drying it out for a day or two. Unplug it from the mains power, take the back off and let a hot air blower play on for a good length of time. I would use one of those small 2KW blowers that are sold in places like Homebase or Argos.

Thanks for the reply! Sadly it's already had a fair amount of time to dry out and nothing has changed. I may just have to face the music and fork out for a new one.

You could add boiling water and start, this will help flush out any wash up liquid, then stop machine after its finished the initial pump out. Then add cold water to fill to bye pass the fill sequence and see if it runs.
