Earlier in the year we sourced a firm from Checaktrade to undertake replacement guttering and fascia boards, along with some repairs to rendering. The job was abandoned about two months ago with the builder dropping off the radar and leaving lots of equipment on site. We now need someone to step in and finish the job. The most recent person to quote claims that none of the fascias and barge boards are fitted correctly and that everything must be re-done. I have no idea whether this is accurate or if I am being fed BS, and would like to hear the views of some of the forum experts. Photos attached

Have you asked them why they think they are incorrectly fitted, most genuine trades don't mind explaining their thoughts

Well according to our man, when it's raining and windy, the rain will blow upwards under the tiles and run behind the PVC fascia

you can see they have overfitted the new fascias but the new ones are too short - so the top of the old wood behind can be seen

I would agree all needs re-doing - the fascias are too short, the corner - they have only covered up half the orginal

If the original wood is sound, then apart from the aesthetics, why does that matter?

It does not, but then why did you get any of it done to start with? I am assuming because you want a good quality refresh? If you are happy as is, then you lead the way, but still only half a job

I understand your point, but I'm getting quotes from people telling me that these fascias as-fitted will somehow be detrimental to how weatherproof the house is. That's what I don't understand.
