How can I get the washing machine out?

Hi everyone,

I've recently inherited a flat, and I'm facing a bit of a challenge with the washing machine. It's wedged between the toilet and the sink in the bathroom. While it does fit through the bathroom door, the space between the toilet and sink is too tight, making it difficult to remove.

I'm considering replacing it but unsure how best to lift it out without damaging the surrounding fixtures. The MDF structure could be removed easily if needed, but I'd prefer not to dismantle the sink as that seems like a bigger job.

I'm not certain if two people could manage to lift it through the tight space. Any advice or recommendations on tools or methods to safely extract the washing machine would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help.

Start, by removing that covering door panel. Is there physical space then, to move it fully forward, then sideways, to extract it? If not, then the side panel will need removing. It might well need to be removed anyway, to get access to disconnect it...

Be aware, that washing machines are very heavy, due to the concrete weights around the drum. You can make the machine much lighter, by unbolting the weights, once the machine innards can be accessed.

Thanks - that’s very useful. Yes, the entire cabinet can be taken off easily. It’s the space between the toilet and the sink which is narrower that the width of the washing machine. So if I need to replace it, I was hoping to find a tool that allows me to lift it above the toilet seat and carry it forward. Thanks :)
