Hello...I am in Canada and am having a new fridge and freezer delivered for my basement. I thought I'd put them beside each other, however, someone informed me that you should never have two major appliances plugged into the same receptacle. My house is fairly new...about 13 years old. Is this information I was given correct? Thanks in advance for your reply.

This is a UK site.

Our electrical methods are vastly different to yours.

Ask a Canadian

Or if necessary an American where the methods are similar to yours.

It is not good practice in Canada, UK, or anywhere else. 2 way adapters are often not well made. I would think it would be even more important in Canada with only 120 volt supplies meaning double the current (amps).

Get an electrician to replace the receptacle with a double one.

Assuming the wiring and circuit breaker are up to the job.

Do you need or have GFCI on this circuit?
