It took us a while to realise what had happened here, even though we knew it didn't look right ....
We could never quite figure out why the window man put in a window that was not as high as the opening cut by the builder. But this weekend we realised that was because the builder cut the window too high - the lintel is sitting above the soffits! In the photo you can see the white of the soffits behind the gap between the window and the lintel. So the window man put in the right height window, but I just wish he had told us why.

So ... what is the right way to fix this? Remove the window, and build another lintel? Then replace the window? Please advise.
