How to get rid of marks on fence from where the timber has been sitting on battens before installing?

We have just installed a new fence. The pre-treated timber was sitting outside for a couple of days sitting in piles separated by battens. It was raining overnight and not sure if this contributed to the issue. Now we have noticed loads of stripes over the fence which must have been caused by the battens they were sitting on. I don't know exactly why it has done this - if it was the pressure of the battens or the fact they got wet and maybe the rest of the plank got discoloured leaving the area under the batten protected. It was not this noticable until a couple of days after we put them up - maybe they have dried out more now.

We are not wanting to paint the fence and it is already pre treated. What can we do to get rid of the stripes or will they go away over time by themselves?

Are you painting or staining?
Paint, by its very nature, will cover the stripes after a few coats. Colour of stain will determine how many coats you need. Very light may take a number of coats. A darker one, such as antique oak, may only take a few coats. Or you could leave it for a while to weather in naturally before painting/staining.

@conny Thanks.. not wanting to paint or stain it as I like the natural look of it and it is already pre treated. Just wondered if it will fade naturally with weathering or even if it lightens over time if it will still be obvious. Or if there is anything I can do without painting it.

walk round your local area look at any established uncoloured fence off at least 2 years old and all the treatment dye will have faded and your fence like them will turn to a similar bland grey colour
any pleasant brown or green tints are fully added to show its been treated and will disappear in around 2 years but in as little as 6 months to a year on a full time sun exposure location a bit slower in full shade
