I want to create a textured wall look in my porch as the plaster work is terrible and I can’t justify spending a fortune getting it skimmed for how little we use it.

I have done some research and purchased joint compound (https://www.wickes.co.uk/Knauf-Premium-Joint-Filler---10kg/p/224541) and a masonry roller to lather it on.

Any advice on how to get it like orange peel finish or even something more rustic if easier for novice. I have attached some pics for what finish I’m looking for.

Thanks in advance!
Logan

Try it on a bit of wood first.
Shove a sponge into a polythene bag and stipple the wet filler which should be applied quite heavy.
You might need to paint the wall with PVA first.

You can get a textured paint for walls and ceilings. I think it was called Ripple. Incredibly easy to apply - basically paint with loads of big grit in it.

Hadn't heard of that so had a look - can only see interior textured stuff from Crown.
