Hi guys

I'm in need of some advice please, I'm trying to do some calcs for a loft what I need to know is how to work out the self weight of purlins and individual joists, (looked every where) I would also like to know when adding a point load from a trimmer carrying the floor do I have to also add the weight of the trimmer joist separately, or are they automatically included in the weight of the floor joist meter squared.

Thanks

Use mass of a m3 of softwood timber and divide it down in to timber sections sizes

But you should be using m2 of roof or floor as a UDL, not individual components.
