HP Colour Laser 179fnw Wireless Multifunction printer with Fax getting PC with new hard drive to find it?

My hard drive failed, so now reinstalling all, but darned if I can get the printer/scanner/fax to work. Run up/down stairs many times, pressing the button on the router thinking maybe printer had lost connection with router.

But all to no avail, any ideas of how to get lap top wireless connected to printer?

Can you get printer to show you hat IP address it is connected to?

You sometimes press a button and it does a test print saying of it is connected to router and to what IP address.

Then try and get install printer to look at that IP address.

Then try and get install printer to look at that IP address.

Then try in DOS, pinging that IP address, from your laptop. If that is successful, you should be able to manually point Windows to the IP.

Harry good idea.
Although before DOS I would put the IP address into my browser to see if the printer has a webpage showing its connection (and often ink levels).

I have noticed the laptop was set to the Virgin Islands, why, not a clue, noted the date was up the creak, clearly either day, month, year, or year, month, day, but it was showing month, day, year, who would every swap the order in the middle?

Had a power cut, and now the printer shows up, had a problem with WPS PIN as never been asked for it before, but using the HP software it seems to all now work. As to if the date was the problem or re-booting printer after power cut, I don't know.
