I have a Humax Freesat DVR (HDR1000) - one of the earlier models with an interesting problem.

The box on initial power-up works OK; I can change channel, switch off, switch on and to an extent record. But after approximately 30 mins 'Lip Sync' drifts noticeably. At the same time I can no longer switch the box off either by remote or power switch; changing channel the bix stops displaying the present channel but does not show the new channel. Also the box will only actually record about 30 min's of the program.

If I disconnect the internal hard drive I can do every thing except record.

I've spoken with the supplier (a small shop in interested in customer service not sales) and they are as perplexed as I.

Hopefully someone can suggest a solution.

Perhaps...... capacitors failing.

On my Humax box I have recently been having failing capacitors.
Was resulting in front screen going dark, not always recording, powering off and other weird happenings.
All seemed to because the failed capacitors were reducing the voltage control circuits.
Replaced the failed ones (need soldering iron and de-soldering tool/wick) and now works.

Quick google search for "Humax Capacitor":

If you are capable, take lid off (with it unpluged) and look to see if any of the capacitors have domed heads/tops.
