I’ve purchased universal remote control as title. Having trouble setting TV control found several different instructions online, but none seem to work.
Pressing TV button and holding okay button at the same time does not light the TV button as specified in the instructions. found other instructions that just suggest holding TV button for three seconds this again doesn’t work. The Humax pvr side of things works fine. just looking for a way to program it to control my Samsung TV as well.

 Universal remote or Humax Model Number as in title? Link to the one purchased?

Is this an original Humax remote or one of the many "clone's" out there - some of which don't work fully?
One random eBay supplier clearly states
This is a fully compatible replacement remote control and performs all fixed functions of the original remote (excluding reprogrammable buttons)

Pic?

Which PVR are you controlling? Have you dismantled and cleaned up the original Humax remote control, following the guides on Humax forums? (Which reminds me I must do one of my 'spares'.)

Looks like one of the ones that do not have the programmable buttons to me.

You sure the HB1100S model? https://uk.humaxdigital.com/product/hb-1100s/ that has a different remote control as default... (Not to say that other genuine Humax remotes won't work with it though, my -T2 works my Foxsat and vice versa - albeit some buttons have different labels).

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Original-HB-1000S-FreeTime-Satellite-Receiver/dp/B00UAJZBV4/ is an original remote (the seller claims).
Why would it have tv, dvd, audio buttons if they are not programmable ?

Ask the makers / sellers ?
My guess is:
1. So they look like the original remote = people buy without fully reading the description detailing what they (do not) do.
2. Cheapness. Easy to program the buttons for the Humax function, but a fully programmable 4-device remote costs (a lot) more to make.

I'm sorry, but you've bought a semi-dud (as the remote will work the PVR functions)... and it's been an issue for (almost) as long as I've owned a Humax PVR and been a member of various Humax specialised forums / AVForums / DigitalSpy where this issue of rubbish 'clone remotes' has come up before.

I'm not sure how good Universal remotes from people like One For All and Harmony work with the Humax but they would be another option (after suitable online research).
