Previous owners built extensions and a conservatory around this drain. Currently toilet and kitchen pipes exit into this little "courtyard".

Outside of doing a massive refurb, and moving the drain elsewhere, I need help to at least spruce it up a bit.

Excuse the weed, we haven't gone into tidy it up lately.

Behind the left wall is a hallway to a boiler cupboard and downstairs toilet.

Wall to the north, is the kitchen, small black pipe on the left is the kitchen sink waste water. Big black pipe is the toilet fro the first floor.

The PVC on the right is a door into the conservatory.

Photo is taken from a laundry room, accessed via the conservatory.

What you need is a tsubo-niwa - a type of very small garden in Japan.
They're simple designs but can become complex if you take into account, soil type, light source and the correct plants to go into making a light garden space. You'll need moss. And stones. Or even a small tree, like an acer, or a Chinese Elm. Did i mention moss? Yeah, you can look through different types all day. I do. Endlessly interesting.
Don't be fooled by a small area being easy. It is....and it is not.
