Hi all

I have an ideal classic ff250 which has been intermittently switching off by way of overheat stat popping out over the last 6 months or so. I've now come to realise it seems to only happens after the boiler has turned off (due to reaching correct temperature on room thermostat or water reaching correct temperature).

Any ideas? I read in a different thread that the gas pressure may be too high. Does it sound reasonable. Or perhaps I need a new overheat stat?

Many Thanks

Thanks for the response. Wouldn't a faulty pump mean it would overheat when the boiler was running rather than when it stopped? As far as I'm aware ideal classics don't have an overrun.

Great boilers, most likely cause is the thermostat sensor, definately not the over heat thermostat, is it on a Y plan or an S plan ?

Hi Ian. Thanks for the response. Its on a Y plan- does this make a difference to your advice?

So would replacing the thermistor sensor lead be a sensible idea? Do you know the part number by any chance?

Thanks

137658 is the part number, be patient when removing the old one they can be a bit seized in, tell your engineer to do it with the heat exchanger hot and gently pull, or it will snap, you will need heat sink paste for re-fitting the new one
