Have a Ideal Logic 30 (Combi Boiler) with "PCB Fault" on screen (photo below).
No hot water for anything.
Manual gives no indication.
Photo of serial number below.
Anyone ideas?

boiler serial number.jpg

I gather the "1304" means it was manufactured in 2013 on the 4th week of the year.

Not hard just have to do what the screen on the boiler says " contact installer ";)

Eh contact installer who if it’s under warranty will contact Ideal to change PCB. Hardly rocket science
Edit it’s under warranty provided your installer registered it and it’s been serviced every year and you have proof of this.

Thanks for your help guys

Phoned Ideal; was difficult getting through but got there eventually.

Spoke with Ideal engineer.

He said is there is no commonly known part on the PCB that fails.

He suggested re-cycling the power at the wall. He said it can be an incoming power supply problem. I phoned the guys in the flat afterwards, they did that, and everything now all good. The fault has cleared and they have hot water again.

[before being put through to above engineer I spoke with lass who said that if the PCB needs replacing then
PCB Part number = 175939 (yours may be different)
and that there is an additional part called a "chip card" that is plugged into the PCB which controls output and that for a model "30" with serial number beginning "ZJ" the chip card
Chip card Part number = 176403.
Anyone know what the "output" is?

Also discovered boiler is under warranty.
She was not that fussed about proof of servicing :)
It gets the CORGI cert every year. The same thing ?
(I ask the service engineer to do what's necessary when he comes annually)

Very helpful all together.

#### Replacement board for this boiler (low price ones are board exchange service) ######

(Your boiler requirement may be different .. and some folks may prefer to use new parts. Try switching it on and off at the wall first. That may clear the fault, as it did for this boiler )

The part number for the PCB boiler with serial number beginning "ZJ" is
PCB Part number = 175939

Also needed for the PCB board is the chip card (if this is a failed part?)
The chip card has to be plugged into the PCB board and depends on the model.
For the model "30"
Chip card Part number = 176403.

All the above information given over the phone by Ideal Boilers, except for the ebay suggestions which are my own.

Hopefully this will be of some use to someone.

With the number of ebay exchange services listed in the above ebay link, for the PCB, I'll bet there are parts on there that fail more than others, and that there may be one part that generally causes failure when the board goes?
(most folks could sort that out with a few spare parts, a multi meter and a soldering iron where necessary)

You dont get a Corgi check every year as they dont exist as a regulator any more, and what you are having done is a Landlords gas safety inspection and is not valid to keep your warranty going, you have to have the appliance serviced and the benchmark completed they are not the same thing
