Ideal logic heat 15 leak

Hi after some advice, I've noticed this evening that there was a puddle of water underneath our boiler on our Worktop. The central heating had been on for around an hour. This is the first time this has happened.

I can't find any leaks inside the boiler but noticed there's a small container which has water inside which connects to a black pipe which has no lift written on it.

Boiler has been serviced twice in the last year one with the old owners and once with a free British gas moving in pack

The item pictured is a condensate trap, this will dissipate water, while the boiler is running, that is it's job. It should be connected to a plastic pipe leading to an external gully or means of disposal.

Is this what is leaking?

I'm not sure I've switched the boiler off just incase waiting to hear back from my plumber, but thought I'd try here first. I'll switch it on later is it OK to open when the Boilers on?

If BG serviced it last do you have boiler cover ? That leak could be a seal or it could be cracked. Either way its part of the combustion train and not diy i'm afraid. Logic covers are also part of the combustion chamber and should only be removed by a RGI.

No we don't have boiler cover figured we wouldn't need it as the Boilers 3 years old (n). Got a plumber coming out Monday I've put everything back on we're just going to keep wiping up the water until it's fixed.

A friend told us to go with ideal and just pay the one off charge? Any idea on what we could expect cost wise?
 
Put your hands on each side of the boiler and check that the cover is sitting on properly. I.E. No gaps either side.

Yes its fine.

Would it be worth going with British gas on there home care cover? I was going to do something like that eventually but figured I'd have a few more years
 
My advice would be to find a good local guy to look after it for you. Not a fan of BG but there is other providers and you can play them off each other for price. Like any insurance its a waste until something happens.

We had a guy but he's to busy atm. I've got a guy coming out who's local Monday but figured I'll have to pay for the first hour then he's going to have to come bk so another hour minimum plus parts. When I can get cover for around the same price
