I've Looked through all the postings sent by members of the group but I cannot find anything that relates to my problem. So hopefully someone can give me guidance.
My friend's children have access to the family PC ad hoc and must have been visiting PS2 cheats sites, (nothing more sinister than that I'm assured). He asked me to look at it and after a matter of seconds it was obvious that the system was so clogged up with spyware etc. For instance, I couldn't open any application after boot up. The system froze, task manager couldn't close anything. The only way to shut down the computer was by turning off the power. So I thought the only option was to re-format the Hard Drive and he agreed.
I d'loaded DriverguideToolkit in preparation for the 'big wipe out' but when I booted up the PC with the intention of saving driver information I couldn't open anything at all. So formatting went ahead full steam.
All went well, he had the Win XP disk and product key and a Mobo disk.
However several small faults are unresolved and I can't identify them. Showing up yellow in Device manager are;
PCI Simple Communication Controller . . I think this is the Modem
USB Device . . I've no idea
Video Controller (VGA Compatible)
Also
Is there a driver for the graphics card; GeForce4 Ti 4200with AGP8x . .I've Googled/Driverguide but I can't find one.
And, I've tried to d'load the driver for VIA VT8366/A - VT8367 from the mobo site but the chipset ID number only goes up to 8365, so I can't get any further with that.
Thanks in advance
