I need to add a fair bit of fencing (200m or so)

It is going to be 100mm round posts (1.8m). With rails.

I need to keep costs as low as possible and don't mind it taking a while to do, but we will need to put 100-150 posts in.

I was thinking about one of the petrol augers with a 4" auger bit. Drill 60cm, then knock the post in. Is this a good way to do it, or would we be fed up after 10 posts? Do they work well and does it leave you with a nice secure post?

I've seen hand powered augers too, but I'm guessing that would be too much work. Someone else suggested using the tool like two spades stuck together.

Would appreciate any thoughts.

Thanks

I should add, this is in a paddock and is intended to keep horses inside the paddock.

I want thinking of using concrete and it would just be the posts in the ground.

Post hole diggers tools work well , only took me about 5mins to get a 600mm deep hole .Also have an auger drill bit used in my cordless drill which makes a 4” hole very quickly .

Post hole digger a (like 2 spades) work well until you hit an obstacle. A nice obstacle free dig can literally take 5 minutes but if there's rubble or roots in the way it can take a lot longer to get to 2 foot deep

I've got a decent cordless SDS - is that good enough to drill many 4" holes in the soil?

Just get a local contractor with a post knocker to do it, unless you value your time at 10p an hour it will be cheaper
His 1st statement was to keep costs as low as possible, your own time costs nothing unless you have a job to do.

He got a paddock not a forest.

Ta.

Do you use a drill with a two-hand handlebar?

What are the yellow things?
