Hi wanted to put some new lights up in garage so cut a hole in ceiling and fitted an access hatch thinking I could climb up there however after seeing the timber decided it probably wouldn’t be safe to climb around in there, I managed to fish my cables where i needed so that job was ok. The garage is in heated and in winter gets to the same temperature as it is outside, I want to put some form of heating in there to keep it a constant say 5 degrees in winter but before I think about that I need to prevent any heat disappearing as soon as it is there. How can I insulate the loft area without climbing in there? Pics below shows the structure, I could roll some Rockwell insulation down the middle and push it to the end with a bamboo cane which would insulate a good chunk of the space but I think unless it is all covered it’s not going to help a great deal.

Could you insulate and board the loft as you go, by the time you reach the end you'll have created an ton of extra storage space too?

Those look like normal pre-fabbed trusses to me, what makes you think it wouldn't be safe to move around up there? Millions of roofs are built like that and people walk around in them and store way too heavy stuff in them, and they're mostly OK. All you're proposing is to put some insulation up there, so I think you'll be fine.

You’d be fine to stand on the bottom member of the trusses
